What is included in AC Servicing?

Every year, it’s wise to have an air conditioning service. This can prevent breakdown or imperfect operation at a time when you really don’t want to wait or negotiate with the intensive summer heat.

As your air conditioning unit operates over the course of a year, it gathers dust and dirt which prevents its cooling systems from functioning as optimally as they otherwise would.

AC servicing is there to make sure your unit is functioning in tip-top shape, as well as to resolve any issues with internal parts. Unusual noises, water leakage, and inefficient cooling considerations can all be ameliorated by the focused attention of a HVAC specialist.

But what exactly takes place in a full AC service? This can include (but is not necessarily limited to):

Total Inspections

The main components of your AC will be serviced here, from your compressors to your fan motors, your evaporator unit to your condenser unit. Your thermostat will also be checked for any defects.

This is to ensure that no small part of your AC unit is throwing off readings or failing to output where necessary. It’s best for all of these components to be checked during your servicing rather than have to worry about a callout later on, and so HVAC specialists tend to be very thorough regarding this and will make sure you are notified of any problems or the need for further work immediately.

Cleaning & Leakage Fixes

As mentioned above, AC units tend to become dusty as they operate consistently throughout intensive summer weather – the time of year when dirt and dust tend to become more prevalent.

Your technician will make sure that the drain is cleared and also inspect the tubing and pipes for leakage. If this is found, it will be drained, and the source of the leak will be fixed, with essential components or pipes being replaced.

Coil & Condenser Cleaning

As the condenser coil and evaporator coil are essential components of your system, sometimes even operating outside of you have a split air conditioner, your HVAC technician will make sure to clean and inspect this component for any damage.

Air Filter Cleaning/Replacement

If the air filters function as they should, then they will accumulate dust and debris quite easily over time. This can be a good sign that your air conditioning system is operating as necessary, but over time this buildup can lead to improper cooling and ice formation. This is why technicians tend to clean and wash the air filter, including the condenser fins, to prevent this build-up and also remove any mould that may be present. In some circumstances, they may replace the air filters entirely.
